Composites & Manipulation
Photography in of itself became a little shall I dare say "boring" which is what led me down the path of photo composites and photo manipulation. What once was done only in the darkroom became quite convenient with a computer and editing software. Don't get me wrong photography can be very rewarding but it just doesn't get my creative juices flowing like other forms of art.
Photo Composite ~combines two (or more) photographs to create one final image. So what you see in some cases are 5, 6 even 7 photos merged together. Sure made photography much more creative!
Photo Manipulation ~any altering to the actual photograph.
An early example of manipulation was in the 1860s, when a photo of Abraham Lincoln was altered using the body from a portrait of John C. Calhoun and the head of Lincoln from a famous seated portrait by Mathew Brady. This same portrait was the basis for the original Lincoln five-dollar bill and your history lesson for the day!!
